Have you been in any of these situations?

Dr. Jennifer Prabhu proudly runs Circee Peds, where she aims to create an open, comfortable age-appropriate interaction between you, your child and herself. She always includes the child in the conversation– as their input is very important in the plan of care! She will only prescribe medications if absolutely necessary and if the latest scientific evidence supports it.

Dr. Jenny is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She holds a unique position to be able to practice in U.S.A. and in India.

Dr. Jenny and her team do everything possible to support and improve the well-being of infants, children and young adults through evidence-based, honest, and quality care.

Her team is always empathetic towards  children and their families. They love to celebrate milestones and achievements of each child, whether it’s a first tooth or college admission. The team understands that each child is different and may face specific challenges that are unique to their own circumstances. Along similar lines, it is important to mention that we are LGBTQA+ friendly and 100% supportive.

Please note- As our physical clinic is in the process of relocating, at present all initial evaluations will be performed via telemedicine and at home doctor visits will be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Meet & Greet

Are you expecting soon? Congratulations! Or, are you looking to switch paediatricians? Well, we are here to discuss your needs as well as those of your child.

Engaging a paediatrician is a long-term commitment. This is your opportunity to understand Dr. Jenny and her team, and evaluate for yourself if Circee Peds is right  for you.

We are offering an opportunity to schedule a “meet and greet” session with Dr. Jenny in which you can discuss any questions you may have about our practice’s philosophy and/or structure. She will also be happy to advise on any future needs of your child- known as “anticipatory guidance” in pediatrics. For example- what to expect at the first newborn visit, vaccination questions/schedule, what a “well-child” exam entails, etc.

Sickness Home Visit

Children get sick a lot so it’s important that they stay at home when not feeling well to limit the spread of illness. They can catch bugs from other kids and this could also go the other way. Make sure to keep up with necessary vaccines too. Dr. Jenny can determine what’s wrong and how to treat in the most effective manner.

If your child has any unusual rashes or skin markings or is running a fever, it may be a good idea to schedule a home visit with the doctor. Doing so at the first sign of illness can help keep mild symptoms from getting worse and reduce their severity.

Some of the most common reasons for sick child visits include:

Bacterial infection

Eye, ear, and strep throat infections often afflict children. They’re usually contagious and make your child feel extremely uncomfortable.

Virus

Children are especially vulnerable to viruses largely because of how they can spread. Colds and stomach viruses are the two most typical ones that children can contract.

NOTE: Antibiotics have no effect on viruses! Giving your child antibiotics for a viral infection is not good for the child- neither short term (it will probably give your child diarrhoea) or long term (it will make antibiotics ineffective as your child grows older).

Allergies

Dr. Jenny provides a range of allergy services, from allergy testing to treatments to help keep your child’s allergies under control

Asthma

Asthma is a chronic condition that can restrict the airways and make breathing difficult. It often causes a persistent cough and can vary in severity, from mild to potentially life-threatening. You cannot catch asthma, it is an ongoing condition, but some children do grow out of it as they get older.

Telemedicine

As mentioned above, till such time as we setup a clinic in Mumbai, please use this service to start with. Telemedicine is great when it is not possible to attend an in-person appointment. You’d be surprised at the things that can be achieved over a video call.

Telemedicine consultations can take place through a simple Zoom, Facetime or WhatsApp call. Telemedicine is…

  • It helps prevent the spread of disease

When your child is sick, the last thing you want to do is take them away from a comfy bed. That’s why telemedicine allows them to have medical care without leaving home.

Well-child Home Visit

Helps assess your child’s overall well-being and flags any areas that may need monitoring. A visit from the doctor doesn’t have to be in response to illness. Preventive care is necessary because it catches potential health issues before they worsen, making a successful result more likely.

A well-child exam looks at your child’s overall well-being and flags any areas that may need monitoring. The team at Circee Peds recommends you schedule wellness visits when your child is the following ages:

2 – 5 days
1 month
2 months
4 months
6 months
9 months
12 months
15 months
18 months
2 years
2.5 years
> 3 years mainly annual visits

If your child is overdue a well-child visit, call us today.

Vaccinations

There are some kids who don’t like getting shots, but with Dr. Jenny around, they won’t be scared.

Vaccines help prevent harmful pathogens and viruses from spreading to a younger body and can protect them at such a young age.

Your body is equipped with an immune system that would usually work effectively to keep harmful pathogens out. But it can be hampered by your age or other factors as your immune system continues to develop. That’s why it’s important to have a doctor diagnose the issue and start treatment immediately.

It’s natural to have questions about vaccines. The team at Circee Peds are happy to discuss how vaccines work to put your mind at ease.

Why are vaccines important?

Children are particularly vulnerable to illness. They’re surrounded by other children at school and daycare, and their immune systems are not yet as strong as adults.

Vaccines are also an extremely cost-effective way to manage your child’s health, preventing possibly lengthy and expensive treatments and hospital stays should your child contract one of the pathogens.

What vaccines should my child have?

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) U.S.A. as well as the Indian Medical Council recommends several vaccines for children aged 18 and under. They include:

  • Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
  • Influenza (flu)
  • Rotavirus (RV)
  • Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP)
  • Meningitis (MenACWY/MenB)
  • Hepatitis B (HepB)
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV for children over nine)

At the initial visit, we will create a vaccine schedule for your child to ensure they are protected. Your child’s first vaccine is the HepB vaccine, given just a few days after birth, and they continue to have vaccines right up until they turn 18. However, the majority of vaccines occur in their first year.

Is your child overdue for a vaccine? Call us and discuss your options.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding may seem natural, but there are many challenges that mother and baby face. Dr. Jenny can help you through this journey when you begin to breastfeed. She can offer you support when you’re facing challenges with latch, production, and weaning.

Not all mothers choose to breastfeed, but if you do, know you’re providing your baby with valuable nutrients designed especially for them. Breastfeeding benefits a baby due to the special nutrients it provides for them. The benefits include:

Boosted immunity
Defence against developing asthma
Prevention of childhood obesity
Protection from ear infections
Protection from type 2 diabetes

Children who are breastfed are also less likely to have a sudden and untimely death.

You, as a mom, also reap benefits. You get to bond with your baby and the process of breastfeeding releases chemicals in your body that help discourage postpartum depression. Breastfeeding can also help you recover from childbirth faster and achieve other benefits for you.

Lifestyle Improvement

With rapid changes in a child’s growth comes the possibility of unhealthy lifestyle habits. Dr. Jenny uses entirely non-judgemental, evidence based methods to help transform the child into healthy young adults. Circee Peds in general, is averse to shaming anyone, particularly children for any condition that they might have, such as weight gain. It is important to understand the child’s needs and tailor the lifestyle improvement accordingly.

This program, called Circee Forte Kids, mimics the Circee Forte lifestyle improvement program where groups of five children and adolescents are taken through a four week-long journey into age-appropriate look at healthy eating, exercise and mindfulness. At the end of the four week program, each child is trained to identify and incorporate healthy habits to remain at a healthy weight. Every child that goes through the program will also get a hotline to discuss any issues they might have with a specialist at Circee Peds.

At the end of the course, they are awarded a certificate so that they remain encouraged to keep doing the right thing for their own health and they might even be called upon to talk to the next batch of the Circee Forte Kids program.
